CAL-Main Results and More
Posted on Friday, May 30, 2003 at 06:50:52 PM | Pravda
After last week's mp_UFO, this week featured another new map, Frostbite TE, one of the rare custom maps to ever make CAL rotation, designed by an Aussie last year. Was it valid and playable as a competition map? Well, CAL-Main certainly made good use of the map as several games ended up in close 3-2 battles.

Planet RTCW Playertracker
Posted on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 07:32:01 PM | Pravda
I was perusing through cached.net when I came across an interesting part of their site: the Playertrackers section. In my attempt to keep this site refreshing, I decided to rip something from cached and put up our very own section of Playertrackers in the Articles section centered around Return to Castle Wolfenstein rather than Q3 or UT2k3.

For those who hate custom maps, this one owns!
Posted on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at 08:21:02 PM | cK AnimeMan
Hummer has made a terrific map that looks smells and tastes exactly like the original Super Mario Brothers 1-1. I haven't played it yet, it is still downloading, but looking at all the screenshots on his page ( http://www.hummerdesign.com/rtcmb/ ) it looks fantastic. Give it a whirl, it is one of the most original, best scripted rtcw maps around.

Our counterpart Swedish RTCW site, SweRTCW is beginning to prepare a tournament hosted by them and sponsored by a few companies in Europe. This tournament will feature 32 teams or more and will begin in about 2 to 3 weeks. So far, the list of teams signed up feature some big Euro names such as Rewind, Gamepoint, and Infensus.

Clan Aftermath and Clan Kapitol merge.
Posted on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at 07:31:36 AM | cK AnimeMan
Being leader of AfterMath, and owner of this site, why not announce it here. AfterMath (am*) and clan Kapitol (cK) have merged in preperation for quakecon. We (aftermath) needed to fill 2 spots on our roster, a panzer and medic, and cK was looking to rebuild, and only had 3 members attending quakecon.

CAL bans r_flares >1
Posted on Monday, May 26, 2003 at 11:09:28 PM | Kuniva
After much testing and scrutinizing we have decided to add r_flares to the list of restricted cvars. This cvar, when a value over 1 is combined with another command (which will not be named), can give a player an unfair "advantage" I'm not going into details about it, just update your servers with the new config http://www.caleague.com/?page=files&div=rtcwo ALL MATCH SERVERS MUST BE UPDATED BY THIS WEEKS MATCHES!

Once, Twice, Three times a lady.....
Posted on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at 06:08:12 PM | cK AnimeMan
Well, only two times so far, but how many times does it take. Wyldcard has been caught cheating in Quake 3 on May 18, 2003 now. His quake 3 guid was 3647ee8d, which matches the second guid on http://pb.speakeasy.net/pbbans.dat . This comes up after him getting caught wallhacking in sof2. I will say it up front, I don't like cheaters. If you cheat, expect your name to get plastered on my site.

QuakeCon Looking for Volunteers and More...
Posted on Friday, May 23, 2003 at 05:50:14 PM | Pravda
The QuakeCon.org site is now looking for volunteers for this year's QuakeCon and has put up a volunteer registration form (not the official quakecon registration). Volunteer spots that are open include just about all kinds of work and they are looking for dedicated volunteers not people who will hang around for a few minutes and leave.

We need all kinds of people this year for network setup, registration, security, and more.

Possible Addition of CAL-Open Into the System
Posted on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at 02:05:19 AM | Pravda
Since this website is geared toward competitive RTCW, it is without doubt that we will try our best to bring you all CAL coverage. Over the last few weeks, we've implemented two sections of RTCW CAL: Invite and Main. That leaves out Open. The reasons we were hesitant to bring CAL-Open over into our systems was because Open has a ton of teams, many that are new and many that might drop out.

Just wanted to get the word out for those of you that may not know about the site. The Config Repo is a community resource geared at storing/sharing configs for RTCW. There are more than 100 configs at the moment, ranging from your basic, stock wolfconfig_mp.

'Tis a 25 minute, 500 MB video of the full showing of Half-Life 2 at E3. Exceedingly interesting, well worth the download.

Pro-Gaming Takes One Step Forward
Posted on Thursday, May 15, 2003 at 06:50:08 PM | Pravda
From ESPN, Marc Stein's article on the Spurs-Lakers playoff match:

"Some of you watching the ending, like us, will struggle to envision how these Spurs -- Tim Duncan and David Robinson and the newbies around them -- can close out the champs, if they couldn't finish off a Game 5 they were dominating."

If Stein's next article uses the term "buddylee" then mark it down folks, ESPN is going to be covering RTCW!

"Two men enter, one man leaves." Quoth the Mad Max of Thunderdome. Today it was deathTouch(affliction) who was able to come out of the proverbial ThunderDome known as Battle on Das Beachhead 2.

In a stunning 3-0 upset of Narf on beach, a Narf team who had stumped dT just a month ago on the same map for the Cal-M finals were not able to do so again.
