wow. I'm glad to see my clan's old server name come back. I remember me, kluk, mav, wes, wood, and beast funding it back in the =GG= 0.9 osp days. It took the prying of dsc and other players to get us to take it off of 24/7 beach and onto a steady rotation hahah. Thanx banksie and all those involved, you made my day.

Hello cowboys, I have a question. I have tried to play rtcw a few times in the last month, but everytime I try to play, I get red line lag spikes every 30 seconds. It has something to do with the game, not my connection, because it only does it in wolf, and if I ping the server with an outside program while this is happening, I get no lag. If anyone can help me out, would be appreciated.

It's a known issue for a winning combination of ati cards, nforce motherboard drivers and punkbuster.

I had a similiar problem, but not every 30 seconds. I think it's related to ati drivers and punkbuster. If you use an ati video card, try downloading the 3.7 cats. Solved my problem with a 9800pro. Also, just to be sure it's a pb problem, you may want first try playing in a non-pb server. Or, I think if you run in devmap mode, their is no punkbuster. That would be a good way to test. /devmap mp_assault
Lastly, I remember end0 telling me he had this problem. The only way he could fix it was by lowering his maxpackets. If you're pinging outside of the game with dos, it maynot be sending the equivalent amount of data that wolf is, so it maybe less likely it would lag up. (guessing) Try ping -L in dos to set the buffer size.

Why dont you guys not talk stupid shit, and keep this server related. THese guys went out of their way to try to keep the game running for those of us who dont hack and still love this game. People should fuckin play there, its like 11:50 and gamecloud is full, just wondernig why the lack of turnout.

CL - yep, had same problem, like lox said. tried a bunch of different things including reformatting, switching vid card drivers (have nvidia), turning pb_sleep up, disabling unused devices, etc. came to conclusion it was my isp, but still not really sure. still happens kinda frequently. let me know if you find any solution.

CL, I remember something like this happening to me too. I'm trying to remember exactly what it was because it was so long ago. I believe I had McAfee and I had a firewall up that was spiking me frequently, so I had to disable the firewall (I now have Norton though and don't have the problem).
EDIT - Actually, I might have had NIS (Norton Internet Security) and disabled some of the features on that. Either way, try to disable your firewall or anything internet filtering related.
