Want to be a DeGenerate?
Posted on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 03:54:17 AM | TRAM Design
You bet you do! Version 1.0 of DeGeneration, a multiplayer modification to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, has arrived and is ready to download!

DeGeneration brings new weapons to Wolfenstein like the Snooper Rifle, FG42 and Tesla gun as well as features such as Parachuting, movable MG42s, Deathmatch, Assault and a gameplay that PC Gamer US called "Novel, Gripping and Fun". PCZone says "Classy maps, great atmosphere, enjoyable gameplay and more make this a top-class mod."

Here's what PC Gamer UK said about DG. "Take a flat-packed weapon of mass destruction, some gun-toting Axis and Allies types and one ingenious idea and you have the DeGeneration team play mod for Return to Castle Wolfenstein."

You can grab the mod and get more information @ TRAM Design -

See you on the servers!!

This mod is a ton of fun. There is now free for all and team deathmatch. Everyone is a soldier and starts out with just a pistol, but then you can pick up all the weapons and flak jackets, new helmets (so im guessing there is helmet protection), and different sizes of med packs. This is a lot of fun for just messing around pubbing.

Then there is also the new "assault" maps. They basically got rid of the old beta maps where both sides had a generator. They have maps with some old old obj style. One of these maps was a redone beach. The layout is almost identical. The big changes are that the axis can open the flag door that has to be blown up, but allies can't. The axis can also rebuild the door or the wall with parts that fall down and/or spawn at places. This is hard to do though.

They also redid the old degen maps with the 2 generators and made them with single generators. So one team is trying to build constantly and the other team is only trying to slow them down or destroy the generator. The only bad thing here is no clear set up points for defense, and most of the maps will bew played in a single area again with more running back and forth. I only played a few rounds of it, but I was hoping they would incorporate the whole parts thing as a part of an obj like building a bridge, or powering something to destroy a wall or something like that so you moved across more parts of the map. It would have been nice if you fought your way to the generator and then fought past it to grab docs or blow something up.
