The PlanetRTCW Top10: The Idea

The Reason: Originally when we envisioned a Top10 List for the site we saw something from the community that accurately displayed how clans stacked up to each other at the current time. Our system of having one user pick his/her personal Top10 lacked both a sense of balance and timely updates. It only showed one persons view of how clans were doing and often took far too long to start a new one with detailed explanations and research. While a number of us are personal fans of the stocks system, we also understand that it does not do clans justice in their rankings. This new system is a Top10 driven by the community, a collaboration of votes from all the people who know the community best, those players, clan leaders, and league admins who live the 1, 2, 3 or more matches of RTCW every week.

The Idea: The concept is that voters from every clan and every corner of RTCW can have a voice in the Top10, and that voice will be equal to any other voter in the system. When a voter goes to place their weekly votes they are met with 10 pull down boxes numbered from 1 to 10 and a comments field so that they may post a short or detailed description of why they voted the way they did. This comment field is not required, but encouraged so that others who view the Top10 can see what the voters think about the community and the clans in it.

The System: Each vote corresponds to a numeric value in the list. A vote for 1 for example carries with it 10 points, while a 2 vote only brings 9 points to the receiving clan and so on and so forth down to a vote of 10 giving 1 point for that week. All the points are tallied in and the Top10 is dynamically generated from these points every time someone views the page. Because this system is very scalable, there can be anywhere from 1 to 1,000 votes on the list at any one time. The Top10 runs from Sunday morning until the following Saturday night. Every week on Sunday the list is reset and voters can once again make new picks.

The Voters: Currently any user that registers on the site will have access to vote in the top 10

If you have any questions about our system please feel free to contact the admins to learn more.

Disclaimer: The top10 list that we hold on the site by all means is not accurate in any way. So do not take it seriously in any way, the top 10 only demonstrates the opinions of the members of this site.
